The Technology News Crew: A New Direction

I've had this blog up for quite a while and although I have not had any time to have it updated in the last couple of months I'm planning to point it to a direction that highlights my skills. It is extremely hard to look for  a job in the city that I'm living in. Cagayan de Oro City is one of the  most progressive cities in the Philippine island of Mindanao. However, its progress has largely been hindered by politics as well as by the people themselves. A lot of the brain thrust of the city has left it in search of greener pastures (Cebu or Manila). Most of these individuals look for call center jobs in the Metropolises because these are actually the highest paying jobs in highly urbanized areas. That's not to say that Cagayan de Oro does not have any BPO company to speak of. There are actually around three to four call centers in Cagayan de Oro. Concentrix Corporation and Arriba Telecontact are just two of the major BPO companies in this city.

Because of the lack of competition from other BPO companies in the region, the wages that these two companies situated in the city actually are not as high as those in the bustling metropolitan areas. These two companies however provide the best training for people who just want to experience working in this specific industry and also for those who envision themselves to have their own careers in the BPO industry.

So why am I writing about this all of a sudden? I work for one of these companies and I've been on both ends of the interview table (as an interviewee/job applicant and as a interviewer). I know how hard it is for graduates and undergraduates to look for a job that is going to help provide for oneself, while at the same time give extensive training. What I'm trying to say is that I'm going to make use of all of the things that I've learned in 4 years of being employed by a BPO company to excellent use by posting job advertisements as well as news about the growing BPO presence in Cagayan de Oro. Additionally, I'm not going to limit myself to just one industry because I will also post about news and vacancies that I know about from other companies or industries. My new vision for the site is to make it accessible to everyone looking for jobs in Cagayan de Oro City. It's my way of giving back to the city which I've called home for the past quarter century. I believe in the Cagayan-on. And I will try to provide content that is as unbiased as possible. Hopefully people will be able to read about the various hiring in Cagayan de Oro City from all the companies.

Since this is also a technology picture blog site, I will still post about the latest technology news. This time however I will be writing an article about the post instead of just posting pictures related to the subject of the post.

Rumor Mill: Apple's iPad Mini

Apple has something up it's sleeve this coming holiday season with the iPad mini. We're expecting a lot of Apple fans lining up to just get this baby.

Personally, I'd still prefer Google's Nexus 7.
